Physician heal thyself!

“Doctors make the worst patients.”

Have you heard that phrase?

It’s hard to be the patient. All kinds of roadblock thoughts get in the way:

“It’s dangerous to give up control.”

“I should be able to figure this out myself.”

“I shouldn’t need anyone else’s help.”

I know I am guilty of this - particularly the last one. I don’t want to need help. I don’t want to rely on other people because people are fickle and easily distracted and unreliable.

I realize that a lot of people are just like me. They’ve been burned before. They have jumped into something only to realize that they were duped. They have tried every trick in the book to feel better but somehow things still don’t feel right.

So now they hesitate to sign up for anything.

I get it. I feel like I waste so much time doing research. Just this week I probably spent 10 hours researching different client management systems trying to find one that does what I want without making me pay for a bunch of stuff I don’t need.

You know what happened? I got exhausted trying to find the perfect solution and instead of wasting my money on things that don’t quite fit, I decided that for now I can just use paper or a basic word document to keep track of things.

Maybe you are there too. You’ve been getting overwhelmed with research, trying to find the perfect solution. But maybe there’s a good-enough solution right in front of you.

Neurographic drawing is the process that I use to cut through the chaos. It helps me feel calmer and a calm mind is a creative mind.
